Two super little ski apartments at Ax-les-Thermes. Situated
in the medieval heart of this spa town, they are the only
two apartments on the second (top) floor of the building.
Apartment 1
Sleeps four – one double bedroom with W.C. and one
twin room. Both rooms on upstairs (mezzanine) level. Kitchen
with electric hob, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, pressure
cooker and TV/DVD. Shower room with W.C.
Apartment 2
(next door) Sleeps 2/3. 1 bedroom with bunk beds
plus extra bed if needed.
Kitchen identical to above. Shower room with W.C.
Electric heating (included in rental price) ski-lockers
on ground floor.
Just two minutes walk to the tele-cabines for great value
ski-ing and snow- boarding. Altitude 1400 to 2400 metres. 75
km of lift-served runs. Lots of off-piste routes in the forests.
Also snowpark.
Half hours drive away you will find husky sleigh rides, overnight
stays in igloos and cross-country ski-ing.
Two minutes walk from the apartments are :-
Hot water pool for soothing your aching feet. Sit
and relax summer + winter
Restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, bakeries, casino,
cinema and night club.
Market place twice weekly
There are many different kinds of free street entertainment
throughout the summer months in the town, and festivals in
the surrounding villages.
Ax-les-Thermes is famous for its thermal cures ; there
are several centres where you can book in and take
advantage of the healing properties of the hot spa water
as well as thalassotherapy, hydrotherapy, massage and beauty
treatment.
Nearby there is a Wolf Park ; an adventure
park for canyoning, canoeing and kayaking on the river. Or
why not visit the largest cave in Europe just twenty minutes
down the road. Close to that is another cave with pre-historic
drawings dating back 14,000 years. A bit further on you can
take a trip on a boat on a subterranean river. Here in summer
you can have a meal underground accompanied by
a pan-pipes concert.
A trip to the Principality of (tax-free)
Andorra is a must while you are staying in Ax. The drive
up through the mountains (half an hour) is spectacular !! In winter the main
road to Andorra is kept open by the chasse-neige (snow ploughs)
Transport
Take advantage of the cheap airlines e.g. Ryanair to Carcassonne
from a choice of British airports. Allow for 90 minutes
drive to Ax.
Toulouse Airport about the same distance from Ax is served
by Easyjet and BA.
